A land-based tilapia farm building food security, economic independence, and sustainable aquaculture for future generations.
We are a land-based fish farm nestled in the heart of Rosedale in Chilliwack, BC. The Sumas First Nation economic development corporation, Semá:th Xo:tsa Developments LP, and their partners, purchased the farm in 2017 in an effort to create greater food security and economic independence through farming tilapia for the nation.
Our work is rooted in the belief that sovereignty starts with sustenance — that a community nourished is a community empowered to thrive.

Inspired by salmon cycles, water currents, and plant growth, the SXDLP logo centers on a salmon egg, a symbol of the Semá:th people’s deep spiritual and cultural connection to fishing traditions passed down through generations.
Just as a salmon egg marks the beginning of a powerful journey, it reflects the early stages of economic development, where ideas and partnerships, carefully nurtured, grow into thriving ventures. Salmon remain central to Semá:th life as sustenance, ceremony, and a living expression of the interconnectedness of all life.
Sth’oqi Aquaculture Limited Partnership operates in collaboration with Semá:th Xó:tsa Developments Ltd, the economic development corporation of the Sumas First Nation. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening food sovereignty, creating sustainable employment opportunities, supporting economic self-determination, and developing responsible, future-focused aquaculture.
Together, we are building a resilient local food system that benefits both community and region.
